Eircodes are coming
Eircodes are coming... Is your business prepared for these new location codes for Irish addresses?
Minister Pat Rabbitte has in recent months signed a contract with Capita (supported by BearingPoint and Autoaddress) to develop and implement the new Irish postcode system to be called Eircode. Eircode will uniquely identify every residential and business premises in Ireland and opens up several new opportunities for businesses of all sizes. Eircode will be launched in Spring 2015. The government is strongly committed to making a success of the project and to ensure that there is a rapid take-up of Eircodes. Several government bodies and businesses have declared their intention to be 'early adopters' of Eircodes, based on the benefits that they expect in areas such as: address capture/verification, customer profiling, sales and marketing, delivery/logistics and other location-based services. CCMA are hosting a members forum on Thursday 10th July from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. to provide a briefing on the introduction of Eircodes. The purpose of the briefing is to give our members information on what will be happening and what you can expect. Topics to be addressed include:
- What the Eircode is and how it will appear
- How it can be used and the business benefits it can bring
- What preparations are needed
The briefing will take place in the Capita Offices at 2 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2 (google map link) It is envisaged that Eircodes will be become widely accepted and used within months of their launch. It is important that the contact centre industry is aware of the implementation programme and specifically how it will affect your business so that you can then decide whether you want to be an 'early adopter' or take a 'wait-and-see' approach. The presentation will brief you on the considerations in making this decision. Further information is available at www.eircode.ie
